The settlement of Loco

The village is set on a high terrace with views of the wild and rugged valley floor below. The houses are mostly typical rustic valley buildings with stone roofs, enhanced by wooden sun balconies; a handful that date from the 16th century reveal more noble origins, evidence of wealth achieved by long-standing emigration combined with the well-established flourishing straw industry and agricultural work. An old water mill that still functions stands at the edge of the village, where, once a week, flour (farina bona) can be ground and bought.
