Mercato di Intra (Italia)

Intra is an Italian town on the edge of Verbano, beyond Cannobio. You can get there by car from Brissago by following the rather busy and winding road that runs alongside the lake. For those who prefer to relax on the water, you can also get there by boat or hydrofoil.

The market in Intra is very well-known and offers all kinds of goods. There are lots of stalls selling soft cheese, mozzarella, parmesan, and pecorino romano. And of course, the market would not be complete without freshly-caught fish from the lake and traditionally flavoured cold cuts, as well as bread, focaccia breads, and sweets. You can also find locally-made honey products: propolis, royal jelly, beeswax candles, etc. You’ll find stalls selling fresh vegetables, fruit, and flowers even in winter. There are also lots of stands selling shoes, belts, leather jackets, bags and handbags of excellent quality yet at a low price. There are all kinds of clothes on offer: elegant dresses, pyjamas, sophisticated underwear, socks, tights, and hats. On top of that, there’s also a huge range of wools, buttons, and fabrics, making the Intra market a sought-after destination for those in search of a good deal.

A trip round the old part of town is not to be missed by those who love designer brands – this is where you’ll find numerous boutiques.

Don’t forget that in order to be taken back into Switzerland, any goods in excess of the allowed quantity must be cleared by customs: please consult the customs clearance sheet.

Saturday from 8.00h til 17.00h.
