Navigation permission for private boats on Lake Maggiore
Foreign tourists wishing to sail on Lake Maggiore with their private motor- or sailing boats need an official permission and the related temporary number plates, which are released at the information desk of the Lago Maggiore Tourist Office in Locarno. NOTE:
- A technical control is not requested for sailing boats.
- Sailing boats with sails smaller than 15 m2 don’t need any insurance.
- Sailing boats with motor pay the same amount as a motor boat (depending on the power of the motor).
- In case of loss of the number plates the replacement fee is CHF 10.--; if the guest is not able to prove that the boat has passed the technical control with the necessary documents, the control needs to be repeated. |
