Each year, the streets of the Piano di Magadino and the lakeside of Lago Maggiore attract some 1700 runners, from all over Switzerland and abroad. The event qualifies for the Swiss championship and for the Cantonal classes for marathon and half marathon, featuring both the full 42 km distance, and half marathon of 21 km. The route is flat and on tarmac: starting at Tenero it heads towards Bellinzona until Gerra Piano before returning to Tenero, continues along the lakeshore to Locarno and finally back to Tenero again for the finish. For all those attending, a great chance to compete in a splendid Autumnal scenery.
