Piazza Grande during the Locarno Festival

The Festival's heart is surely the daily evening projection in the magnificent Piazza Grande, which transforms itself into the "most beautiful movie-theater under the stars". From the 2018 edition... #Locarno71 The protagonist of the great Retrospective of Locarno71 is the director Leo McCarey (1898 – 1969), who won three Academy Awards. McCarey is not only the one who launched and brought to success the unforgettable Laurel & Hardy, but also great comedians like Charley Chase and Max Davidson and stars like Cary Grant, with whom he has worked several times (The Awful Truth, Once Upon a Honeymoon, An Affair to Remember will be shown during the Festival). He directed stars like Ingrid Bergman, Paul Newman, Bing Crosby and Debora Kerr. Many stars will appear on the red carpet of Locarno71, starting with Meg Ryan, who will receive the Leopard Club Award 2018 on Friday, August 3 and Ethan Hawk, the Excellence Award on Wednesday, August 8. Isabella Ragonese, Laetititia Dosch, Marthe Keller, Antoine Fuquea, Mary Kay Place, Jean Dujardin… to noun just some of the stars that will brighten Locarnos nights. Locarno Talks la Mobiliare For the second edition of Locarno Talks, from Thursday 9th August until Saturday 11th August, the Spazio Cinema will host a series of public discussions on the theme “NOW – the best place to change the future”. How do images influence and will influence our everyday lives in the future, in art and social media?  With Narcissister (the multimedia artist and activist), Jürgen Schmidhuber (AI pioneer) and Juergen Teller (photographer).
