Bagni di Craveggia

The hot springs Bagni di Craveggia is located on the Swiss-Italian border, within the Onsernone and Vigezzo valleys. The two valleys are coterminous with each other but separated by history. A breathtaking landscape surrounds the hot springs, which is immersed in a lush forest, on the banks of the Isorno River.

The hot springs Bagni di Craveggia is scene of important historical happenings linked to the Italian resistance movement of the Second World War. Its natural water has a temperature around 28°C and its health benefits are found to be very effective in soothing skin irritation. The recent restoration of the site gives the chance to live an experience that will bring back to the 19th century, when the aristocrats went to the hot springs by their carriages or carried over the shoulders of local farmers and enjoyed a bath in one of the two new granite pools. There are two more pools as well, the first filled with spring water temperature and the latter with cold water taken by the close river. They create a “kneipp” itinerary which makes everyone relax and release tension and stress from the body and mind.

The hot spring Bagni di Craveggia can be reached from Spruga (Switzerland) walking on a blocked paved road for about 40 minutes and from Craveggia (Italy) through a mountain trail. This trail, along the “acqua e pace” itinerary, is difficult and requires hiking equipment: hiking boots, trekking poles, etc. The access is free and it takes about 4 hours to reach the hot springs. Visitors are requested to respect nature and security regulations.

The two new pools are always open from April until November. The road from Spruga is not cleaned during the winter.

Recreational area provided with bbq facilities available.
