Description of the itinerary:
A walk on the hill over Ascona: from the post office in Ascona ( 207 m ) go to the lake and follow the lake promenade towards Brissago till you reach the main road and the tunnel: there a walkway will bring you up to reach the Roman path that winds up until Gruppaldo (nice small chapel).
On the way back turn left after the walk sign, and walk uphill towards Balladrum ( 483 m ) with its wonderful view over the gulf of Ascona . After a short descent, walk upwards to reach Gratena ( 451 m ). (Turning right downhill, you will arrive at the Monte Verità and its beautiful Parsifal Park ; for fitness lovers there is a Vita Parcours). Turn left and the path will bring you to Arcegno and the region called "Collina dei Maja".
The next stop will be at Barbescio, a nice point of view above the Terre di Pedemonte and the green of Losone. Go then back down to the hill Maja, Losone and the Monte Verità: Ascona is not far away.
The route is very well marked and suitable for the whole family (public transports very close).
