It is said that "The icon is not painted but written, it is in fact a message that is passed on". This is how Maria Cristina Bacchi, author of the icons that you can admire in the cloister of the Church of Santa Maria Assunta (Chiesa Nuova) from 9 to 15 August 2021, describes her works.
Maria Cristina Bacchi is specialised in the execution of icons inspired by Russian and Byzantine art. She paints her panels respecting the iconographic canons of the classical technique, which involves egg tempera and gold leaf applied to seasoned wood.
The opening will be held on Monday 9 August at 7 p.m., with creative music by Chiara Pedrazzetti and her harp.
