Take the five-minute suspended cable car ride from Orselina to Cardada and find yourself immersed in a striking alpine setting. Follow the short paved path through the pines until the chairlift departure to Cimetta. In Cimetta, at an altitude of 1'670 meters, there are an alpine hut and the geological observatory, with a red line that symbolizes the Periadriatic Seam. From here you can enjoy a stunning 360° view of the lake, the Magadino Plain, and the surrounding mountains, including several Alpine peaks.
The path is all downhill, with a significant difference in altitude of roughly 1'300 meters. In the first stretch cross vast pastures and pass by Alpe Cardada and the restaurant below it, until the place of departure of the chairlift. From here continue the descent, mainly in the woods, passing through Cortaccio and San Bernardo, until you reach the upper part of Orselina. The last stretch of the itinerary leads to the departure station of the suspended cable car, located nearby the Sacro Monte della Madonna del Sasso (Madonna del Sasso Sacred Mount), a famous pilgrimage site interesting also for its architecture and artistic value.
