Via Alta Vallemaggia

The Via Alta Vallemaggia is a spectacular, fascinating trekking tour for mountain lovers, suspended between heaven and earth. It runs from Locarno to Fusio, between the Maggia and Verzasca Valley.

Among the most attractive Alpine routes in Ticino, it features a variant leading up to the CampoTencia peak at 3071 m a.s.l. Hikers spend five or six days at high altitude in the great outdoors, far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The horizon broadens with every step, offering sweeping views from the Po Valley across to the peak of Monte Rosa and rewarding efforts with peace and utter silence.

The trekking comprises 6 sections, which are a day excursions:
Section 1: Cardada - Rifugio Nimi (11.6 Km / 7 h 30 min)
Section 2: Rifugio Nimi - Capanna Alpe Masneè (4.4 Km / 3 h 30 min)
Section 3: Rifugio Alpe Masneè - Capanna Alpe Spluga (9.2 Km / 8 h 30 min)
Section 4: Capanna Spluga - Rifugio Tomeo (8.3 Km / 7 h)
