Brione Verzasca
From Brione Verzasca (756 m), follow the road into the Val d’Osola. After around 400 metres, the path turns left, descending to a small iron bridge. The first stage of the long ascent is Sgerbi (769 m), followed by Sparvé (1'016 m), Scimarmòta (1'855?m), and finally the Lago dello Starlarèsc da Scimarmòta (1'855 m). The total elevation gain is 1'099 m, with a walking time of roughly three hours. Experienced hikers have the option to ascend from the stone houses above Scimarmòta at 2'064 m along the ridge between Pizzo Costisc and Cima del Masnèe, to enjoy views of the Masnèe (2'009 m) and Pianca (1'915 m) mountain lakes in the Maggia Valley. The steep path requires extra care in some sections, and good mountain equipment is recommended.
For the return, there is an interesting but challenging variant, suitable only for experienced hikers: follow the ridge via Masnèe (2'069 m) to the Passo Deva (2',036 m), descend to the Lago dello Starlarèsc da Sgióf (1'875 m), and from there return to Brione Verzasca via the Alpe di Sgióf, Piano del Vald, and Ganne.
Overnight accommodation is available both at Rifugio Alpe Masnèe and at Capanna Starlarèsc.
