Big Band Story Cardada

Locarno

24.08.2025

Conducted by Maestro Gilberto Tarocco, with the extraordinary participation of the maestros

Paolo Tomelleri, clarinet, and Danilo Moccia, trombone

At the end of the 1920s, especially in New York, small Jazz groups expanded to become Big Bands, composed of a rhythm section and a large section of wind instruments. This opened an important season in African-American music: the so-called SWING ERA.

The program proposed by the Last Station Big Band in this concert retraces the most significant evolutionary stages of orchestral Jazz, starting from the Cotton Club in Harlem in 1927, up to the present day.
