The Song of Songs, or Canticum canticorum, is a biblical collection of love songs traditionally attributed to King Solomon. It describes the relationship between a woman and a man and is considered in the Jewish tradition as an allegory of the relationship between God and Israel, and in the Christian world between Christ and his bride, the Church.
The A Cappella Choir Zürich dedicates his current program to these texts, juxtaposing works from the 4th Book of Motets by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina with modern settings of the Songs of Solomon by Yehezkel Braun, Maurice Duruflé, William Walton and Ola Gjeilo.
