Eventi letterari Monte Verità: Great Expectations
The eighth edition of the literary festival is named after Charles Dickens’ celebrated novel Great Expectations. Besides marking the 150th anniversary of the author’s death in 1870, the title is intended to highlight the opportunity to join with distinguished international guests in reflecting on the immense social and cultural transitions we are currently going through, and on those which await us in the near future: from human migration to the desire for greater global economic equity, from dramatically urgent environmental choices to the attempt to find a balance with new technologies threatening to undermine the humanist values on which our civilization is based. The Eventi letterari will take place at the Monte Verità, the Teatro del Gatto in Ascona and the PalaCinema in Locarno, from 2 to 5 April 2020. The opening event will be held at the PalaCinema in Locarno, featuring the British novelist, dramatist and screenwriter Hanif Kureishi, regarded as one of the most interesting and original voices in literature today.
