Exhibition Manon - Poetry

The internationally renowned artist MANON (1940*), the Grande Dame of Swiss contemporary art, presents us a representative selection of her works, of central importance in her long career. In Ticino, this will be Manon's first exhibition since 1997, when she exhibited at the Centre for Contemporary Art in Bellinzona.

The exhibition in Ronco s/A, promoted by the Associazione Ronco sopra Ascona Cultura e Tradizioni and curated by Sacha Nacinovic, aims at an installation related to the history and splendour of the premises of Casa Ciseri, which places poetry as its main theme, showing the sensitive, playful, dreamy side of the artist. As often in Manon's work, reference will be made to the role of women in society, nostalgia and the ephemeral. In addition to a selection of photographs from the series Hotel Dolores (2008-2011), sculptural elements of the installation La stanza delle donne (1990/96) will be exhibited. Some of the works have already been presented in the most renowned Swiss institutions (Kunsthaus Zurich, Aarau, St. Gallen and Zofingen), while others will celebrate a Swiss premiere in Casa Ciseri.
