Festa dei popoli

Locarno

21.09.2025

On Sunday, September 21st, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Locarno will once again host a journey of discovery and cultural exchange spanning more than thirty countries, with numerous food, craft, and information stalls, as well as performances, workshops, and many other activities for all ages, bringing Piazza Grande to life with the classic multicultural day of the „Festa dei popoli“. This year’s event is held under the slogan “Peace, Inclusion, Community,” with the goal of continuing to strengthen, through inclusion and intercultural exchange, the spirit of Locarno—that spirit of dialogue and openness that, exactly one hundred years ago, enabled major European countries to sign an important peace treaty, the Locarno Pact.

The „Festa dei popoli“ is an opportunity to meet, exchange, and discover the cultural diversity of our region, made possible thanks to the collaboration of around fifty organizations, associations, and communities, whose activities allow the City to celebrate diversity and promote integration, respect, and coexistence.

More detailed and up-to-date information can be found on the „Festa dei popoli“- Facebook and Instagram pages (@festadeipopolilocarno), as well as on the website www.locarno.ch/festa-dei-popoli.

In case of bad weather, the event will be moved to the PalExpo (FEVI).

The event is organized by the City of Locarno with the support of the Cantonal Integration Program (PIC 3) of the Department of Institutions of the Canton of Ticino. It is certified “It’s Ready” in collaboration with Radix Svizzera Italiana and made possible thanks to the valuable financial contribution of several sponsors, including the Fondazione Cultura nel Locarnese, ECAP, and Società Elettrica Sopracenerina, as well as through media collaboration with Radio Ticino, which will also professionally host the stage presentations, and technical support from Light-Sound and InElettra. Added to this is the invaluable contribution of various associations and volunteers who offered their help in organizing the event.
