Locarno e Valli Art Weekend

A free journey through art, music, and culture in the museums of the Locarno area:

Centro Elisarion, Minusio – Ghisla Art Collection Foundation, Locarno – Remo Rossi Foundation, Locarno – Casa Rusca Museum, Locarno – Casorella Museum, Locarno – Marguerite Arp Foundation, Solduno – Castello San Materno Museum, Ascona – Municipal Museum of Modern Art, Ascona – Monte Verità Foundation, Ascona – Regional Museum of Centovalli and Pedemonte, Intragna.

The museums of the Locarno area are preparing to host the third edition of the Locarno e Valli Art Weekend, which will take place on Friday 9th, Saturday 10th, and Sunday 11th October 2026. Three days dedicated to discovering the region's art and culture, with a rich program of special activities designed to engage audiences of all ages.

A key feature of the 2026 edition will be the event's completely free admission: all activities offered as part of the Locarno and Valli Art Weekend will be free, offering residents, families, young people, art enthusiasts, and tourists a valuable opportunity to freely explore the area's museums and cultural venues.

A unique and diverse experience:

Each participating museum and institution will offer activities created specifically for the Art Weekend, some inspired by current exhibitions and collections, others developed specifically for the occasion.

The events will be spread across different days and times, allowing visitors to tailor their itinerary and participate in multiple events, transforming the weekend into a true cultural journey through museums, cities, and valleys.

The activities:

The program will include guided and themed tours, performances and musical experiences, meetings, activities for children and families, and other offerings designed to offer diverse and engaging ways to experience art and cultural spaces.

The Locarno e Valli Art Weekend is a collaboration between the spontaneous group Luoghi d'arte nel Locarnese (Art Places in Locarno), which brings together museums, foundations, and exhibition spaces in the region with the aim of creating synergies and bringing culture to an ever-wider audience.

Now in its third year, the event aims to showcase the richness and variety of the region's cultural heritage and, thanks to the free admission of all activities, make art venues even more accessible and open.

An opportunity for families, art enthusiasts, tourists, and residents, as well as those who typically visit museums less frequently: three days to enter, discover, participate, and move from one location to another, experiencing the Locarno area through art and culture.

All activities during the Locarno e Valli Art Weekend 2026 are free. Reservations are recommended or required for some events with limited seating.
