The concert formerly known as ELÄT (which means “You live” in Finnish) is a sophisticated multimedia concert and experimental music project born from the collaboration between singer/artist Mixa Fortuna and trumpeter/composer Mario Massa.
The project has its roots in literature and conceptual soundscapes, drawing specific inspiration from Virginia Woolf's masterpiece, The Waves.
The project's subtitle, “I wrote in rhythm, not in plot,” is a direct quote from Virginia Woolf's diaries about her writing process for The Waves. The concert aims to translate Woolf's “abstract and mystical” literary style into a musical experience.
Mario Massa is an internationally renowned trumpeter and composer, known for his sonic explorations ranging from experimental jazz to electronic music.
Throughout his career, he has become a leading exponent of experimental jazz and “jazztronica,” integrating acoustic instruments with electronic sounds.
Mixa Fortuna is a singer and performer known for her work in experimental and contemporary music.
Her art is characterized by an experimental approach, in which singing and voice are used as performative instruments to explore modern sound languages, often balancing electronic sounds with avant-garde jazz.
The ensemble has numerous releases on streaming platforms (many of which are forthcoming), including:
TILT (2025), MARIA (2025), and Recode (2024), another significant work in their discography: the television version of THE WAVES.
