Locarno

10.03.2023

The Dante Alighieri Society of Locarno is organising the lecture by Leandro Sperduti, archaeologist and researcher at the Department of 'Sciences of Antiquity' of the University of Rome 'La Sapienza', 'The fabulous forgotten kingdom: ancient Afghanistan'.

A country in the mountains, straddling two worlds, where Alexander the Great and his Macedonians created the Kingdom of Bactria, a state where the splendour of classical culture meets the sacredness of the Indian East, with its inestimable treasures and rich and forgotten cities that marked the bulwark of western civilisation for centuries and marked the meeting between East and West.
Leandro Sperduti will trace their salient moments and main cultural, architectural and artistic features.
