Locarno

17.02.2023

The Dante Alighieri Society of Locarno, in collaboration with the Lyceum Club of Locarno, organises the lecture by Stefano Ragni Il tango da Borges a Piazzolla, Friday 17 February 2023, 5.30 p.m., in the Sala della Sopracenerina on the Piazza Grande in Locarno.

Free admission.

The musician and musicologist Stefano Ragni, accompanying himself on the piano, starting from the studies of Borges, who in 1965 dedicated four important lectures to the symbolic music of Argentina, will lead us along the extraordinary path of the history of the tango, through its greatest interpreters and composers.
From its infamous origins in the casas malas of Buenos Aires, from which all departed because of its provocative sensual charge, to its approval in the Parisian cultural circles of the 1920s, carried by the niños bien bands, up to Alfredo Casella, the French-Argentinean Carlos Gardel and the revolution of Astor Piazzolla, inventor of the concert tango, whose successes burst into the academic halls and elite cinematography.
