A show which has been a huge success, for both audiences and critics alike, all across Europe.
The Lackballett was founded in 1942 by painter, designer, sculptor and choreographer Oskar Schlemmer, an artist who attended the painting workshop entitled "Lacklabor" promoted by chemist and entrepreneur Kurt Herberts in Wuppertal. Herberts secretly allowed him and other artists, branded by the Nazis as "degenerates", to work in his painting workshop. Oskar Schlemmer, inspired by this workshop, created his first ‘ballet of painting’, which he performed only once, as he passed away the year after.
