With its 2026 edition, Verbano Musica Estate presents a journey through Swiss music, exploring its richness and diversity through six concerts held in various municipalities in the Locarno region. Titled Musica Helvetica, the festival aims to establish a dialogue between different eras, languages, and sensibilities, offering a nuanced perspective on an often under-explored yet highly interesting musical tradition. Alongside pieces from the more well-known repertoire, audiences will be invited to discover lesser-performed works, in a continuous interplay between past and present.
The festival's protagonists will be young performers already active on the national and international scene. From guitar to cello duo, from wind quintet to chamber orchestra, each concert will offer a different perspective on the festival's theme.
The concerts will take place in Locarno, Brissago, Losone, and Minusio, in spaces that help create a direct connection between music, architecture, and landscape. In this dialogue between sound and place, Verbano Musica Estate continues to offer an intimate and shared listening experience, bringing audiences closer to chamber music in an authentic and engaging way.
This year, too, the musicians will accompany the audience with short introductions and listening guides, offering tools for deeper exploration of the programs. An invitation to discover—or rediscover—Swiss music through the eyes and sensibilities of a new generation of performers.
