The Dante Alighieri Society of Locarno will present an intense and moving show, the musical reading ‘Words and Music for Peace and War’, scheduled for Thursday 11 December at 6 pm at the Palazzo dei Congressi in Muralto, to close the Centenary of the Locarno Pact. A journey back in time from the Locarno agreements to the outbreak of the First World War, interweaving poetry, memories, speeches, letters, songs and hymns to recount the dreams and disillusions of war.
The star of the evening will be Christian Poggioni, an actor trained at the prestigious Piccolo Teatro School in Milan under the guidance of Giorgio Strehler, accompanied by the renowned accordionist Danilo Boggini. To make the experience even more engaging, there will be images, videos and music that interact with the scene, curated by Enrico La Greca. A powerful and moving experience, reflecting on the horror of war and the desire for peace.
The event is supported by the municipalities of Locarno and Muralto, the “Cultura nel Locarnese” Foundation, the “Magna Charta” Foundation and Banca Raiffeisen.
Admission is by donation.
