JANUARY BANDIRS IN THE OLD TOWN 2026: THIS YEAR IT'S LOUD... IN A MASQUERADE On Saturday, January 31, 2026, Locarno's historic center will host January Bandirs in the Old Town, an event that this year will be enriched with the atmosphere of the Locarno Carnival for the first time. The popular tradition of dragging milk cans (tölle) through the streets will be transformed into a colorful and noisy celebration, designed especially for children, who are invited to participate in masks and become the true protagonists of the parade. The aim is to symbolically chase away winter through music, joy, and fantasy, in an afternoon of sharing and fun. The event is organized by the Pro Città Vecchia Association, which celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2026, in collaboration with the Stranociada association. The latter will contribute to the entertainment with the presence of two Guggen, who will lead and close the parade, transforming the streets of the historic center into a huge musical celebration. With masks, music, laughter, and festive notes, the event will combine tradition and Carnival, offering children and families a moment of joy and participation in the heart of Locarno. 4:15 PM Gathering in Piazza Sant'Antonio 4:45 PM Parade departure 5:00 PM Arrival in Piazza Grande 5:30 PM Snack in the shed and entertainment with Radio Fiume Ticino 6:45 PM Exit from the perimeter
