MUSICA al CUORE presents a highlight: young international excellence at the Madonna del Sasso — the Motus Quartett performs in Orselina on 21 March 2026.

The Associazione MUSICA al CUORE is delighted to announce a distinguished new programme highlight for the concert on 21 March 2026 at the Madonna del Sasso church in Orselina: the highly acclaimed and award-winning Motus Quartett from Vienna will be performing.

Founded in 2022, the ensemble is among the most exciting young string quartets of its generation. The internationally formed quartet, with Tim de Vries and Karla Križ on violin, Erin Pitts on viola and Domonkos Hartmann on violoncello, has quickly made a name for itself through its exceptional musical maturity, stylistic precision and expressive power. The ensemble was formed during its studies in Vienna and is mentored there, among others, by Johannes Meissl at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. The quartet has also received artistic inspiration from distinguished musicians such as Hatto Beyerle, Valentin Erben, Eckart Runge, Oliver Wille, as well as members of the Jerusalem Quartet and the Danish String Quartet. A particularly formative experience was its collaboration with György Kurtág.

The ensemble’s rapidly growing international reputation is also reflected in an impressive series of awards: in March 2025, the Motus Quartett won First Prize at the 10th International Joseph Joachim Chamber Music Competition in Weimar, as well as the Special Prize for the best interpretation of an early Classical work. Further successes followed, including a Third Prize at the Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition 2025, two special prizes, and First Prize at the mdw Great Talent Award. Concert appearances have already taken the ensemble to renowned venues such as the Wiener Konzerthaus, the Vienna Musikverein, the Concertgebouw and Wigmore Hall.
For the concert at the Madonna del Sasso, the Motus Quartett will present a programme that brings together two masterpieces of the string quartet repertoire:
Joseph Haydn
String Quartet in G minor, Op. 74 No. 3 “Rider”
Ludwig van Beethoven
String Quartet in E-flat major, Op. 127

With this ensemble, MUSICA al CUORE continues its artistic path of combining the highest musical quality with a vibrant sense of musical presence. The concert promises an evening of great intensity: Haydn’s dramatic elegance and Beethoven’s late, visionary mastery meet a young ensemble that is already regarded as an exceptional voice on the international chamber music scene.
