From November 19, 2026 to January 7, 2027, Winterland returns with a new dimension and becomes Winterland Ascona-Locarno, a major winter project that unites two of Ticino's most evocative destinations in a single experience of ice, light, music, gastronomy, and entertainment.
The new edition introduces a new fairy tale, "A Melody of Light," which will accompany the Winterland experience through the language of light and projections in both locations.
In Locarno, the heart of Winterland remains Piazza Grande, which is enriched with new experiences for the new edition. These include the Casetta del Gusto, dedicated to the local gastronomic excellence, and the new Santa's House, an immersive experience with lights, animatronics, elves, a VR sleigh, a Christmas shop, and an original Santa's Elevator.
Alongside the new features, the attractions that have made Winterland Locarno a recognizable event are returning: the ice rink, artistic projections, light installations, music and concerts, the ip Line, the Fondue Chalet, the Magic Tree, the Carousel, the Karaoke Gondola, the Bistrot de la Paix, the Chinoise igloo, and the Kids program.
In Ascona, a major new feature of the 2026–27 edition is the transformation of the lakefront into an elegant winter wonderland overlooking Lake Maggiore. The heart of the experience is the spectacular 700-meter ice walk, an immersive path that allows you to skate in a unique setting, surrounded by lake lights and a Christmassy atmosphere. Completing the experience are the Lake Dome, a transparent lounge overlooking Lake Maggiore dedicated to gastronomy, events, and conviviality, and an artistic lighting project that enhances the historic façades and transforms Ascona into an evocative setting.
The two towns will also be connected by a Christmas train, designed to accompany visitors in discovering both destinations and create a truly integrated experience between Ascona and Locarno.
Winterland Ascona-Locarno thus becomes a new winter destination on Lake Maggiore: two towns, two complementary atmospheres, and a single, vast universe of light, ice, magic, gastronomy, and entertainment.
