From Verscio, where the Teatro Dimitri is located, accessible by car or the Centovallina (Locarno-Domodossola train), the hike starts steeply through the charming village center, which is worth paying some attention to. The trail, built a few years ago, leads to the Oratory of Sant'Anna. The trail, easily accessible and with many steps at the beginning, passes through a wonderful landscape of chestnut, birch, and beech trees. After just under 200 meters of elevation gain, you reach the oratory and enjoy a splendid view. The small chapel, not accessible, dates back to the 17th century. Now descend the stone steps towards Tegna before ascending again. The last stretch before reaching the Castelliere di Tegna is again steep. Once you reach the prehistoric ruins, you can enjoy a panoramic view over the Centovalli up to Lago Maggiore. Take your time to study the information panels that provide interesting information about the castle ruins. Now return along the same path until the trail splits, then descend the last stretch to Tegna. In Tegna, there are several options to stop for a drink or a bite to eat, and the Centovallina takes you back to Locarno.
