At the border with Italy, we let our gaze lose itself on the horizon. Two-day route above Brissago, interesting from a botanical point of view and with many panoramas.
The starting point of this white-red-white marked route is Brissago, reachable by bus, car, or boat. The path ascends in zigzags towards the small hamlet of Cortaccio, then through the forest to Vantarone, where the panorama opens up. The trail makes a large curve in the alpine landscape and leads to the Rifugio Al Legno, where drinks can be purchased in the partially staffed hut, open from May to November. The next day goes to Gridone/Monte Limidario. Passing through Bocchetta di Valle, the ridge is followed to the end of the trail. A short very steep passage leads onto the crest, which is followed to the summit. From the summit, the panorama extends over the Valais and Bernese mountain ranges. The return to Rifugio al Legn is by the same path, then heads towards Merugno, where the Sacred Forest is crossed, a 35 ha forest reserve where the laburnum grows, which blooms from May to June. A bus passes through Brissago.
