The route starts and ends at Cardada. Locarno's emblematic mountain can be reached in a few minutes by chairlift. At Cardada, it is worth enjoying the view from the observation platform or spending some time in the beautiful playground. A well-marked white-red-white trail leads from Cardada to Cimetta. Along the way, there are several mountain restaurants offering culinary delights. The Cimetta TV antenna can be seen from afar. If you want to avoid the climb on foot, you can take the cable car from Cardada to Cimetta. From there, you descend to the Passo della Bassa di Cardada (crossing the Verzasca Valley) and then zig-zag down to Alpe Vegnasca. Only a few years ago, you could still ski here. From here, you could also descend into Vallemaggia (Avegno or Gordevio). The trail leads back to Cardada, the starting point of the hike, making a large arc.
