By bus (2-3 daily runs) you travel from Cevio to Cimalmotto, then follow the slightly uphill white-red trail from Cimalmotto towards Cavà. This area is rich in coniferous forests and, in autumn, the larches encountered at altitude shine with their golden foliage.
From here you climb to Alpe Quadrella, active until around 2000, and then increasingly uphill to the homonymous pass, from where you enjoy an unobstructed view over Campo Vallemaggia and Bosco Gurin.
The brisk descent towards Chumma crosses the Bosco Gurin Valley to the highest village and the only German-speaking one in Ticino, Bosco Gurin. This Walser village is a treasure trove of history and culture, which can be discovered at the Walserhaus museum.
From the village, the bus runs several daily returns to Cevio (check the timetable beforehand).
