Museum of the Verzasca Valley

Sonogno

The museum is located in the Verzasca Valley, in an old house that overlooks the village square of Sonogno. Since 1974, the museum houses a collection comprising about a thousand objects that reflect the everyday life of the past of the valley.

From the beginning, the Museo di Val Verzasca has promoted the knowledge and preservation of all evidence related to culture and agro-pastoral activities of the Verzasca Valley.

The nature of the objects collected and the design of the building only allow the construction of simple and small exhibitions.
Since 2010 the permanent exhibition runs in four areas: the economy of subsistence (room 1), the typical house (rooms 2 and 3), the school (room 4) and the history of the local chimney sweeps (rooms 5 and 6).

In Frasco, near the bridge, the museum has restored and put back in operation, for educational purposes, a double-century mill.
