Until 1973, the farmstead that welcomes you today was a valuable refuge for Alpine farmers. Corte di Fondo was the first stop of the Alpine season, before the climb to the higher farms, and the last before the descent from the Alps. After years of neglect, this complex - a splendid example of rural Alpine architecture - has been brought back to life thanks to the efforts of the Patriziato di Prato VM and the Fondazione Lavizzara, as part of a wider project to promote the Prato Valley. The restoration work, which began in 2017, deliberately retained the simplicity that once characterized the lives of our ancestors. We are deeply grateful to the volunteers and supporters who made the rebirth of this refuge possible, a place of authentic and timeless beauty.
