Rifugio Corte Nuovo is located, at an altitude of 1635 m, on the ridge that acts as a watershed between Onsernone and Centovalli.

Built on the ruins of an old hut of the homonymous mountain pasture, it was inaugurated on July 29, 2017 and can be reached from the two sides after a couple of hours of walking.

It is a destination for those who intend to climb Pizzo Ruscada, but also an appreciated stopping point, both for the hiker who has planned treks of a few days, from or to other regions of Ticino or the nearby Vigezzo Valley, and for those who choose to stop and admire the wonderful panorama that sweeps from the shores of Verbano to the multitude of mountains in the region.

It consists of a single room that serves as a kitchen / living room above which there is a loft with 6 beds, complete with mattresses, pillows and duvets. However, the use of a personal sleeping bag/sheet is required.

Spartan, but tastefully furnished, you can find everything you need to spend a pleasant stay: a wood stove, the necessary to cook, a small pantry with some food of long duration and a well-stocked bar.Inside it is equipped with drinking water and electric light. Thanks to the small photovoltaic system it is possible to recharge cell phones. Don't forget to bring your own USB cable. The reception for cell phones from Corte Nuovo is good.

Outside there is a toilet and a fountain.

Reservations can be made on the website www.cortenuovo.ch . With the confirmation is also released the code to collect the key from the box that is located next to the front door. In cases of urgency it is possible to get it from up there by calling one of the addresses indicated on the door.

Payments can be made by leaving the amount due in the box, using the appropriate payment slip or via Twint.

Open from the beginning of May until the end of October.
