Ascona-Brissago-Ascona

The tour starts in the centre of Ascona and climbs towards Monte Verità, above Ascona, where a commune of freethinkers was set up in the early 1900s. Well worth planning a visit! The tour continues along a paved road above Lake Maggiore with spectacular views. This makes for a gentle bike ride that is all about the landscape. Ronco sopra Ascona is a charming place that became an artists' village in the 20th century. The route then climbs slowly through the forest before returning to the lake in Brissago. Brissago has Mediterranean charm and good restaurants. A delightful town to explore and full of history. The return trip to Ascona follows the same route.
