From Gerra Piano, on the Magadino Plain – the largest vegetable and cereal production area in Ticino – a road leads to the popular destination Monti di Motti: a 12 km climb with 800 meters of elevation gain through dense woods and charming villages.
The route winds up from Agarone to the locality Ditto (also called Monti di Ditto). From here, less than 5 km remain to the destination. Just below Monti di Motti, on the left, there is a bench from which you can enjoy a wonderful view of Lake Maggiore. At Monti di Motti, you will find the Osteria Grotto Monti Motti, a small lake overlooking the Verzasca Valley, and a church. From here, the hiking tour to Monte Sassariente begins, and the return to Gerra Piano follows the same path.
