Explanation
A tour focussing on agriculture. Piano di Magadino is a fertile plain famed for the cultivation of cereals, vegetables and fruit. The tour starts in Tenero, popular with campers and a renowned training centre for young athletes. National bike route no. 31 takes you to Cugnasco, with vineyards on the sun-kissed slopes to your left and the Ticino river and cultivated fields to the right. You cross the river at Gudo and then follow bike route no. 3 to Bellinzona. The return trip follows national bike route no. 311 to Camorino and Cadenazzo. Beware: this route is not closed to traffic. You cross the Ticino river again at Quartino and then return to Tenero along national bike route no. 31. There are plenty of opportunities for you to buy locally grown produce along the way, and there are many restaurants, too.
