The Monti di Motti are a very popular hiking destination. Combined with the long climb, they offer a perfect mix of performance and relaxation in nature.
A nice bike path leads from Tenero through the Piano di Magadino to Cugnasco. The Piano di Magadino is the vegetable garden of Ticino. After six kilometers of flat pedaling, the climb to the Monti di Motti begins in Cugnasco. Up to km 10, the climb is winding and always steep, with a gradient of 7-10%. At km 11 it flattens briefly before steeply rising again towards the Monti di Ditto. Most of the route runs in the shade of the forest, ideal for hot summer days. From km 15 onwards, the gradient eases and in the last approx. 4 km you can catch your breath. Along the route, there are always beautiful views of Lake Maggiore and the Piano di Magadino. At the Monti di Motti, there is a grotto for a break. There is also a small lake surrounded by benches where you can enjoy a rest after the tough climb.
- Average gradient from Cugnasco: 7.2 %
- Climb from Cugnasco: 11.55 km
- Elevation gain from Cugnasco: +833 m/- 110 m
