Explanation
Valle Verzasca is indisputably one of the most famous valleys in the canton of Ticino. There is a lot to see along the 25 km between Gordola and Sonogno. The tour starts with the imposing Vogorno dam. You then cross the "Ponte dei Salti" bridge in Lavertezzo with its round arches over the emerald green Verzasca river before reaching the picturesque village of Sonogno with its museum and wool centre (Casa della Lana). There are several restaurants along the way where you can taste local dishes. If you feel like it, you can even take a dip in the river. You may want to take the bus to Sonogno and then enjoy the descent, or vice-versa. Beware: Valle Verzasca attracts a lot of traffic in summer.
Caution: all bikes must keep their headlights on in Valle Verzasca owing to the many road tunnels!
