    From Vira Gambarogno, the charming village on Lake Maggiore, you climb to the Alpe di Neggia on 12 km of quiet road. For the first six kilometers or so, the slope is almost constantly around 9%. Between km 6 and 7, at the height of Monti Piazzogna, the slope decreases slightly before the climb becomes truly demanding. Now there are five kilometers with a slope of 10-11%.
