In a rugged landscape dominated by rock with the occasional devastating rock fall, learn how the inhabitants used stone to their advantage and adapted to their harsh environment in order to survive.

Discover the many different ways in which this material was used in daily life, from sculpting the hostile landscape for farming to ingenious rock shelters, and from protection against predators to uses in food processing and preservation.

During the tour you will visit two traditional stone villages to discover a number of hidden gems - historically significant artefacts that document the traditional way of life in the valley.

DURATION

The "If Stones Could Speak..." Tour begins and ends in Maggia and takes around 4 hours.
