Swissminiatur is an open-air museum where you can admire the most important Swiss buildings and means of transportation.
A one-hour journey taking in the whole of Switzerland. Seems impossible? Not in Swissminiatur, the park reproducing a miniature version of the Swiss Confederation. The Park covers 14,000 m². Dotted around the park you can admire the over 128 1:125 scale models of the most famous buildings and monuments in Switzerland.
The detailed and authentic models include well-known sites such as the castles of Rapperswil, Chillon and Bellinzona, the Federal Parliament in Bern and the Piazza Grande in Locarno.
And this is not all: a network of 3560 metres of miniature railway wends its way through the Park with 18 trains running on tracks, crossing bridges and stopping at stations, whilst boats ply the lakes, cable cars and funiculars climb and descend mountains and cars run along the motorways.
Swissminiatur was inaugurated in 1959 and this year celebrates the 60th anniversary of its foundation, a jubilee that its management wants to dedicate to manual and to the craftsmen who take good care of the miniatures of the park every day.
The events on offer are always appealing and young and old alike are sure to have fun at Swissminiatur.
For the 2020 season the restaurant is closed. The Grottino is open from 05.07 to 31.08 and offers drinks, grill and sandwiches and an ice cream parlour.
Swissminiatur extends the opening of the season until November 8th. From November 2nd to November 8th the park will be open from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. with last entry at 3.30 p.m.
