Festival films under the stars of the region - Cinema openair

After the success of previous years, the Municipalities of the Lago Maggiore and Valleys, with the support of the Locarno Film Festival, offer the population a traveling openair cinema event, bringing the films that have marked the history of the Festival to eight places in the region. From mid-June until early August, the public will therefore have the opportunity to feel the experience of Piazza Grande in many evocative squares and locations of the Lago Maggiore and Valleys.

The following screening will start at 9.15 pm, after a short presentation of the project and the Locarno Film Festival:

Any movements in case of bad weather will be promptly reported on the website and on the social channels (Facebook and Instagram).

The selection of films is curated by the Artistic Director of the Locarno Film Festival, Giona A. Nazzaro, who offers the population eight exciting titles that have made the history of the Festival as illustrious titles from past retrospectives and which continue to arouse great emotions. The films are shown in the original language and subtitled in Italian or French, in order to make the experience accessible to the public in the region.

Participate and win!

During all the evenings, a person will be selected from the audience who will receive a general pass, kindly offered by the Locarno Film Festival, to attend the next edition of the Locarno Film Festival. There will also be competitions with day passes to the Festival as prizes on the social channels of the event and on Radio Ticino.

The project was born from the intercommunal Culture Commission of the region Lago Maggiore and Valleys, a group that brings together all the political heads of Culture of the region. All the Municipalities of the region contributed to the financing of the project. Furthermore, the project is made possible thanks to the close collaboration with the Locarno Film Festival, the Conservatorio Internazionale di Scienze Audiovisive (CISA), Radio Ticino, the Amici del Cinema del Gambarogno and the Cinematografo Ambulante (Cinetour), and thanks to the precious sponsorship by the Fondazione Cultura nel Locarnese, the Organizzazione Turistica Lago Maggiore e Valli and the Società Elettrica Sopracenerina.
