On Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 19:30, the majestic pilgrimage church of Madonna del Sasso in Orselina invites you to a very special concert event. Under the title “Ingenious Youth - When Music Begins to Shine”, works will be performed by four composers who created musical masterpieces as young people: Johann Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Gabriel Fauré and Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy. What they have in common is a creative spirit that found impressive expression even in their youth - fresh, passionate and full of inner fire.
Professor Rudolf Koelman, Professor Orfeo Mandozzi and the orchestra “Ad Archi dell'Università delle Arti di Zurigo” cordially invite you to this concert. Young works by great masters will be performed, which are not only technically brilliant, but also characterized by astonishing emotional depth.

These musical jewels of the early years are brought to life in an extraordinary line-up: under the direction of Professor Rudolf Koelman, the orchestra “Ad Archi dell'Università delle Arti di Zurigo” plays - a young ensemble with outstanding talents.
Professor Rudolf Koelman is one of the outstanding personalities on the international violin scene. As a former pupil of the legendary Jascha Heifetz, he combines the highest level of virtuosity with profound musical expression. He was first concertmaster of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam and has been professor of violin at the Zurich University of the Arts for many years. Many of his students have been awarded international prizes. In addition to his teaching activities, Koelman is in demand worldwide as a soloist, chamber musician and conductor.
