Festa Patronale San Giovanni Battista

This year, during the traditional celebration of the Feast of St John the Baptist, scheduled for Sunday 21 June 2026, the Mogno-Fusio Church Foundation will mark the occasion by organising a commemorative day to mark the 40th anniversary of the avalanche that destroyed the little church and part of the village. The event, aimed at the entire local population of Vallemaggia and the Locarno area, will be an opportunity to enjoy a cheerful day in the beautiful setting of upper Lavizzara.

The packed programme for the day includes Holy Mass at 10.30 am, celebrated by Father Massimo Gaia and led by Luca Papina. This will be followed by a concert in the square by the Corno delle Apli Association of Italian-speaking Switzerland. Lunch will be organised by the Lavizzara Ski Club, whilst the afternoon will feature music from the Lipa Band. Throughout the day, there will also be a small market selling crafts and local produce. There will be plenty of fun for the little ones too, with a number of attractions. A day of celebration not to be missed!
