The Smuggler's Trek: An initiative by Insubrica Historica aimed at enhancing the trail near the Locarno border (Brissago), used during the 1940s and 1950s for smuggling goods, as well as by partisans and civilian and Jewish refugees fleeing to Switzerland. This trek was born from the desire to allow interested parties to relive an important, not so distant, historical moment. It is a thought-provoking trail that demonstrates how the wartime situation of World War II profoundly affected the region, including the Locarno area.
