Locarno

From to

Two vintage railway carriages in Piazza Grande to commemorate the centenary of the Locarno Pact.
Before the Locarno Pact, there were other diplomatic steps. Among them, we should remember the Treaty of Versailles (1919) and, before that, the Armistice of Compiègne, signed on November 11, 1918, in a dining car in the forest of Compiègne, northeast of Paris.
The two carriages, which are free to enter, include:

  • an information point on the celebrations for the centenary of the Locarno Pact;
  • a documentary exhibition of a small private collection on the Pact
  • information panels on the Armistice of Compiègne and the Locarno Pact;
  • continuous screening of the documentary La Città della Pace - Locarno 1925 (The City of Peace - Locarno 1925) by Jonas Marti (12', 2025).
