Auressio, located in the lower part of Val Onsernone, is reachable by car or bus. Besides a convenient Info Point, Auressio hosts the Church of Sant'Antonio Abate, dating back to the Middle Ages. The hike passes beneath the current road, on the old mule track leading from one stone bridge to another. It is impressive to admire these constructions made with limited means, taking us back to a distant past. The trail is relatively flat until Cresmino. Occasionally, at a curve, you can glimpse the road passing above the path. In Cresmino, cross the main road and continue the ascent on the opposite edge, following a zig-zag path up to Gerbi. From the alpine pasture of Nebbio Sotto, the trail quickly descends to Cavigliano, where you can take the Centovallina (Locarno-Domodossola train) or the bus to Val Onsernone.
