In the mid-19th century, around 300 people lived here. Until 2020, Corippo was considered the smallest village in Switzerland – today it has about 13 inhabitants and belongs to the municipality of Verzasca. Although the famous “primacy” was lost with the municipal merger, the uniqueness of this place has remained.
Fourteen stations along the route tell about life in Corippo, about old times and new ideas. A highlight is the Albergo Diffuso, opened in 2022, a project of the Fondazione Corippo 1975, which transformed six rustici into an atmospheric accommodation with twelve rooms and a cozy Osteria – an impulse for fresh life in the village.
The houses literally cling to the steep slope. Above and below, terracing testifies to the hard work of previous generations, who cultivated hemp, grain and other essential products here.
The route starts at the village square with an information board and continues to the church, to the chestnut forest and the old school – just some of the stages that bring Corippo’s history to life.
