Frasco, the starting point of the route, is accessible by car or bus (Locarno-Tenero-Sonogno line). The path is relatively steep right from the start. Initially, you walk through shady forest, then the flora changes and larches dominate the landscape. The trail winds through the villages until A coo der Prèda, the last one, where it ascends steeply and zigzags up to the wide meadow of Alpe Costa and the homonymous hut.
The self-service facility is the ideal place to relax and unwind, with the possibility of overnight stays (open from May to October). The hut offers 7 beds, WC/shower, and cooking facilities.
You return to Frasco on the same path as the outbound trip. On the way back, you can stop at the farm "La Ghironda" (A coo der Prèda) to buy local products such as goat cheese or cured meats. Those who wish to refresh after the effort of the walk can take a dip in the Verzasca (but beware!).
