Explanation
Two-day tour into the enchanting landscapes of the Onsernone Valley. Red and white mountain hike to remote alps surrounded by majestic peaks.
By bus or car to Vergeletto (bus direction Spruga, change at Russo). The tour can either be started in the valley or, if you don't want to make the first ascent, at the mountain station on the Alpe di Saléi (cable car runs from May-October). First refreshments are available at the Capanna Alpe Saléi (May-October). The trail leads across meadows and through larch forests below the Creste to the Bùsan pass and the Pièi Bachei alp. Continuing up and down to Alpe Arena, where the hut of the same name is located and where you can spend the night. The self-catering hut (June-October) is equipped with kitchen, wood stove, toilet, electricity and drinks are available. On a panoramic path, you traverse through the alpine landscape along the valley basin to the Alpe di Porcaresc, which is cultivated in summer. The trail then descends steeply to Alpe del Casone and on to Vergeletto. In summer, cheese can be bought from the alpine farmers. The bus runs from Vergeletto.
Attention: Between the Capanna Alpe d'Arena and Capanna Salei huts, there are herds protected by livestock guardian dogs.
